BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) — From all rack measurements, all options, and all colors.
“Remember your shoes. We use them right,” said DeWitt Lee, founder of St. Brian Clothing. “So we’re thinking Burgundy, right?”
The suit up for the first free men’s clothing giveaway for the holidays had everything you need to feel as good on the inside as you do on the outside.
“I feel like a completely different person,” said Buffalo’s Ramone Volmer in his new suit. “I feel like I’m part of something. I feel like I’m someone.”
Lee said the idea first came to her when she felt the need to help a man attend a funeral after the May 14 tragedy in Tops.
“This is a continuation of our giving back and service to the men in our community, making sure they suit up for my daughter’s graduation, or the highlight of her life,” Lee said.
A collaboration between St. Bryan Croziers, Hispanic Heritage Council, Colvin Cleaners and Buffalo Black Billion was to successfully dress up the community.
“Make sure you know when they’re going for an interview, whether it’s an interview, gong to church, or just to have a good time,” said Michael Norwood of the Buffalo Black Billion. A man wants to look good.”
“I mean the young man who just walked out with a tie, an H&M suit, a Ralph Lauren shirt with a new tag, and a pair of Stacey Adams shoes for free,” Lee said.
But many who stopped by the Reverend Bennett-Smith Family Life Center said they got more than new clothes.
“There are so many negative things going on in the world right now,” said 19-year-old Norman McCarter. I think it’s really great and I think it’s driving us crazy.”
“If we get a chance to catch him before he slips one-on-one, that’s our goal,” Lee said.
“I feel blessed,” Folmer said. “I feel great. I am surrounded by brothers in the church, encouragement, happiness, love and respect. It is the best I have ever had.”
Giveaways will be open again on Monday, December 19th from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
