Held at the Oriental Hotel on Victoria Island, Lagos, the GAH-AWARDS was a fusion of fashion runway, music comedy and awards.
The theme of the event, ‘Promoting Sustainable Economic Growth Through Skill Acquisition’, kept guests excited all night long.
The ceremony also celebrated the 10th anniversary of the organization and the graduation of the GMYT Fashion Academy, with awards such as Humanitarian Foundation for the Sick 2022, Humanitarian Bank and New Humanitarian of the Year.
Guests were also thrilled with the wedding dress-centric runway show as graduates of the GMYT Fashion Academy showcased their talents through the creation of wedding dresses and groomswear.
GAH-AWARDS founder and general managing director of GMYT Group, Princess Kelechi Ogaen, said the company plans to empower at least 1,000 people next year.
According to him, the three graduates were given start-up funds of N500,000, N300,000 and N200,000, and just 20 sewing machines were given to some of the graduates.
“We gave out over 300 cars this year, and we are looking at giving out at least 500 cars even without sponsorship.”
In her keynote address, Angela Jide Jones of SEWA Assets Management Limited, an institutional consultant and equity investment expert, said the focus of the GAH-AWARDS is to promote sustainable economic growth through skill acquisition. and called for investment in innovation and skill acquisition. “The future will be shaped by investments made today,” she said.
