The Memphis Grizzlies were up 29 points with about three and a half minutes left in the third quarter on Wednesday night and were ready to waste as much time as possible.

After LaMelo ball hit the Charlotte Hornets’ 3, the Grizzlies inbounded the ball, but it rolled along the court and no one was near except Morant, who knew the rulebook well.
The referee did not start the eight-second infraction countdown until he touched the ball, but the game clock was still running.
So Morant didn’t even bother to touch the live ball and wasted nearly half an hour in the game without any penalty.

“You can do this,” A Hornets station said“The ball hasn’t been touched. In theory, he could have done this until midnight tonight.”
Once Morant was on the ball, the Hornets coach was adamant that someone approach him. Hornets’ Terry Rozier finally made the switch on defense, so Morant finally got it.

Memphis ended up winning 131-107 to record their fourth straight win. They improved to his 24-13 during the season, placing him first in the Denver Nuggets and the West.
