With Paris Haute Couture Week in full swing, the eyes of the fashion world are completely on runways and street style, and it’s no wonder that new high-end fashion trends are drawing inspiration.
And while a lot of fashion is taken very seriously, one show gets a lot of attention with its whimsical runway show and literally turning the catwalk upside down.

On Wednesday, the Viktor & Rolf label showed off a slate of models that look like they were inspired by Barbie dolls from the 1950s and ’60s. And dramatic cat eye makeup.

But as the show progressed, something started to happen.
One by one, the models began to be separated from the dresses.

It started small, and the dress was slightly slanted, making it look as if the model had missed the final fitting.

But soon, models began appearing in dresses that were completely separated from the body…

Some people have said that the show appears to be operating under Matrix glitches.

But for us, it gives it a major vintage paper doll vibe, especially given the retro, understated feel of the model’s neutral-hued underwear.

“The dress confronts, alienates, and liberates the body in a surreal way while preserving ideal form.”

“As an outdated dream of soft femininity, this delicate collection seems to set the tone for an almost archetypal vision of haute couture,” concludes Viktor & Rolf.
