Pop superstar Justin Bieber spoke out against H&M this week, claiming the retail giant began selling apparel lines using his name and image without his approval.
“The H&M product they made for me is garbage,” Bieber wrote to his fans on his Instagram story on Monday.
“All without my permission and approval,” the singer added on another Instagram story. “SMH, if I were you, I wouldn’t buy.”
In a statement to CBS News, H&M said it follows “appropriate approval procedures” when creating its licensed garments.
“Like all other licensed products and partnerships, H&M has followed proper approval procedures.
Bieber didn’t specify which items he was referring to, but according to the singer’s dedicated fan Instagram account @jbiebertraacker, the items included a white sweatshirt with Bieber’s face on it, as well as an image of Bieber. It included a tote bag and phone accessories. A pink sweatshirt that reads, “I miss you more than life,” the lyrics to her song “Ghost” of her Bieber.
Below that Instagram post, the 28-year-old pop singer herself commented.
This item does not appear to be available for purchase on H&M’s website. A search for “Justin Bieber” will not find any other clothing or accessories related to him.
Bieber runs his own apparel company, Drew House, which he launched with co-founder Ryan Goode in 2018.
