Miami’s fashion design department embraced her message about recycling and reusing textiles and offered a “material grant” to create the new clothes that were exhibited at the end of the fall semester.
In addition to his work at Thread Up, Rosenberg is Vice-President of Oxford’s Planning Commission and a member of the city’s Housing Advisory Board.
Nancy Parkinson
Parkinson is a registered dietitian dietitian teaching at the University of Miami and has brought her passion for promoting good nutrition outside the classroom to the Oxford community providing support to children and adults. It’s been around for years, but 2022 sees an even more collaborative effort in his first-ever Culinary Adventures with Nancy.
“Over the years, Nancy has delivered programs to students at all three Tarawanda Elementary Schools and Tarawanda Middle School. She’s earned the nickname ‘Nancy of the Nutrient Nut,'” David Kullman wrote in a nomination letter hinting at her Citizen of the Year honors.
Kullman also writes that an article in the international Kiwanis Magazine featured last year’s hands-on nutrition workshop at the Kiwanis-sponsored Service Learning Program.
The letter explains that Parkinson received a grant this summer to start a nutrition program called “Adventure Cooking with Nancy” at Parkview Arms.
“Every month there is a hands-on workshop that includes a kit with ingredients and supplies to make a recipe.
