Two robbery suspects were arrested Tuesday night after their escape was stopped by bystanders inside Torrance’s Del Amo Fashion Center.

Torrance police said the suspect attempted to smash a jewelery store display in the mall with a hammer and then fled with the stolen items, but was detained by bystanders and military personnel and held until officers arrived. It is said that

“Great job to all involved, including Marine Recruitment South Bay!” the Torrance Police Department said on Facebook.

It’s not clear how many other suspects were involved in the attempted robbery.

The identity of the arrested suspect has not yet been released.
