“So this is New York Fashion Week. It’s an important fashion week for the United States and one of the top three fashion weeks in the entire world,” said Seth Howard, WKU Fashion Merchandising Program Instructor. .

WKU’s fashion merchandising student group is heading to the Big Apple.

They will serve as volunteers at Fashion Week in New York City next month.

“It’s definitely something I’ve heard people talk about, and I didn’t expect to actually be able to experience it first-hand,” said Kathryn Beiter of Fashion Merchandising Jr.

The February 10th show will support the menswear presentation.

They help the agency make the show as smooth as possible by checking guests in for the show, helping designers showcase their work, and guiding guests through the collection to point out design details and features. You can do whatever it takes to do

“I’ve always found it very interesting to learn more about behind the scenes because we’re always looking at the runway and everything in front of the camera, but what’s behind the camera, not behind the camera. It’s going to be very exciting because we’re going to see it,” said Fashion Merchandising Jr. Landen Mint.

This experience is inspiring for them and gives them a glimpse of what the future holds. Howard hopes his students will continue to make valuable connections after graduation.

“They all have hopes and aspirations to work in the fashion industry when they graduate. Let’s go,” Howard said. .
